A Lifetime of Lessons
A Lifetime of Lessons – 30 years of Successes, Failures and Learning.
I’ve been involved in the sports industry for over half of my life.
It’s been 30 years of successes, failures and learning and even though at times the frustrations have overwhelmed the fun, it’s been a pretty good ride.
One of the most common questions I get asked at seminars and conferences is “What are the most important lessons you’ve learnt in the past 30 years in sport?”
There’s been many: it’s been a Lifetime of Lessons but there are a few things that really stick out.
A Lifetime of Lessons
I’d like to tell you that over the past 30 years I’ve discovered the secret to success and can sell it to you in a can or a bottle.
But, contrary to what you read online from the seemingly endless lines of sporting gurus and sporting product salespeople, there is no one size fits all, guaranteed to work, secret to success.
Well – that’s only partially true.
There is one: there actually is a secret to success.
But you can’t buy it.
You can’t download it.
You can’t copy it.
You can’t find an APP for it.
Here it is….for free and for real.
The honest to goodness secret to sporting success.
“Find something you love doing. Give yourself completely and unconditionally to it. Everyday focus on learning as much as you can about that thing you love and to giving everything you’ve got to getting better at it. When the tough times and setbacks come – and they will – it is your love of what you do that will keep you going and that will ensure you bounce back quickly. Although success is not a guarantee, this consistent commitment to giving all of yourself to the thing you love doing will give you the opportunity to realize your potential and to achieve your dreams”.
